Bye-bye spring and hello winter...
We're heading out of our winter vacation perch on Sunday and will be back to the thrill of Minnesota winter soon. I love a good snowstorm and really do love winter. Thankfully we got to experience some good snowstorms before we left for this trip. While winter is lovely in Duluth, it can get a bit long and this bit of a winter vacation break is perfect. Of course, you probably have to be retired to do it... but I highly recommend it to all. And I want to make it clear... we're not snowbirds....just winter vacationers! Stay tuned.....

Hope you and your wife have a safe trip back to Duluth, Jim.
Glad you got a chance to shorten up the winter down in this area.
Thanks. We had a great time and are coming again to the same spot next year. We mentioned to Janna's parents that we came to Janna's Mkt through a recommendation but didn't know your real name to tell her who recommended it. They couldn't guess and we didn't have enough clues. Next time we're there, we'll mention the connection to your daughter to see if that helps... or you can e-mail me your actual name and we'll tell them who it was next year. Love that area of the country and will return again to Janna's. Thanks again for being a loyal reader of the blog!
From Jock, We define Snow Birds as those who go from a cold climate to a warm climate and stay there for 4 to 5.5 months a year. In some states you have to be careful on extending your time there because of residency and tax requirements. Canadians are especially limited in time spent in the sun belt because of rules. I suppose a Winter vacation could mean going to Pt. Barrow, Alaska, or any place between there and Antarctic. You have picked a nice spot away from the Air Conditioned City. Have fun this week. Jock
Private e-mail sent regarding our Family name for Janna or her parents.
Firebottle 3: Thanks for the e-mail note and support of the blog. We're going back to the same spot in FL next year and will stop again at Janna's. Now we can say who sent us. Great spot!
Jock: Guess our spin on snowbirding fits those rules. We go for a month "vacation" in the winter. This winter we extended it for a couple more weeks. We met some Canadians when in Fl and they vacationed there for a couple of months. Hope they followed the rules! Of course, Duluth has lots of sun birds who migrate up here from the hot south in the summer months. Hard to keep track of the bird migration. Nice hearing from you!
My parents were her for 3 weeks, came in a snowstorm, March 10 and left in one March 31. Guess you can say they got a real Minnesota welcome and good bye. In the short 3 weeks they got to experience: 25 below and snow, 50 above and sunny, icestorm, rain, a little more dun and then 2 belowe (only) and snow. They had a great time, but my mom said she's never coming back in March. :-)
